Married to his beautiful wife Esther since 1969, Richard is a passionate advocate for marriages and together, they support a ministry devoted to helping couples work through conflict and stay together. “Retrouvaille” (pronounced re-tro-vi with a long i) is a French word meaning rediscovery. The Retrouvaille Program consists of a weekend experience combined with a series of 6-12 post-weekend sessions over 3 months and provides the tools to help marriages heal and thrive. The main emphasis of the program is on communication in marriage between husband and wife. It provides the opportunity to rediscover each other and examine the relationship in a new and positive way.
Richard began on his own path of rediscovery in 2003 when he and his wife were on the verge of divorce. Richard and Esther attended Retrouvaille in a final effort to save their marriage. The first weekend they attended, and the follow-up work they did over the following months, ended up saving their marriage, keeping their family together, and helping their children. The couple continued to be active participants in the program and have since been elected to the Board of Directors of Retrouvaille. Now they deliver their own seminars within the program titled, “Encounter with Self”.
Helping to save other troubled marriages with compassion, communication, awareness and forgiveness, is one of the Stewarts’ most precious investments and proudest accomplishments. Every time they deliver a seminar, lives are changed for the better, and they sit back in wonder and humility at how God can use their own brokenness to help bring healing and hope to others. Investing in this kind of service to others, brings rewards that no money can buy and the Stewarts love it with a passion!
